neighborhood market cafe organics
PARK ISLAND is a neighborhood Market and Cafe located at 250 Park Avenue in the Park Avenue Historic District of Hot Springs, Arkansas. The market's name derives from the fact that the Park Avenue neighborhood is an island completely and uniquely surrounded by the forest of the Hot Springs National Park.
PARK ISLAND's mission is to respond to and meet the needs of it's diverse neighbors, which includes both the health conscious and the cost conscious. Inspired by similar urban neighborhood markets that have to meet the needs of several clienteles within the same neighborhood, PARK ISLAND sells a mix of healthy foods, organic foods and also traditional cost friendly foods and items. The market will feature full lines of grocery products, including produce, dairy, meats, vegetarian selections, bulk items, dietary restriction selections, flowers and non-food general household items, both organic and mainstream. Part of the mission of PARK ISALND is to join in the process of educating neighbors on the long term benefits of a healthier lifestyle, but with a spirit of gradualism, respecting that many in the neighborhood are understandably of the mind set that food and fuel costs of traveling for food are a priority.
PARK ISLAND's cafe is initially providing breakfast pastry and lunch service. PARK ISLAND's hours will be from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Responding to the needs within the entire downtown area, PARK ISLAND will specialize in a combination of home made traditional bakery items, healthy and diet restriction options for morning service in addition to coffee service featuring organic fair trade Green Mountain Coffee. In the near future affordable, fresh, quick lunches will set the tone for afternoon service, served “Picnic” style. Initially guests will be provided with a biodegradable picnic box that will contain several choices that they can enjoy in the cafe or they can take with them to picnic at work, in the home or in the National Park or at the many outdoor destinations our area provides.
In addition a small menu of other Lunch selections will be offered that will be prepared fresh to order and priced accordingly. Sunday and Monday nights are going to be family style sit down dinners featuring international cooking from many ethnic groups and those of specific diets. For example one night a local Indian chef may be the guest and another night all vegetarian or gluten free, to help educate ourselves and others. Music is planned for after dinner. PARK ISLAND will also make itself available for community groups and small meetings ,classes and events.
Thank you for your interest in the revitalization of the Park Avenue and downtown districts.
